Rio Hondo Artists’ Residency is an annual dance-based artistic residency program designed to forge connections: to the land, to our culture, and between people. Each year, we bring together selected dance artists from across the country to work in collaboration with local Taos artists who create in a multitude of mediums. Together, they will dive into the research process to lay the foundation for 3 distinct choreographic works.

From June 22-July 3, 2026, our artists will be in residence at the Wildflower Playhouse, the Harwood Museum, Ballet Taos, Sunset Park, and the TCA, offering free programming and events designed to activate the community and give people direct access to the arts-making process, which will in turn inform the work they create and stage. Resident artists will also engage with Taos artists through interactive rehearsals & conversation, and present their works-in-progress in First Edition, a showcase on July 3rd.

Throughout the residency, RHAR will be working with Taos Kids One to create a documentary about the choreographic & collaboration processes that will be used as the foundation for a movement education outreach program offered to local schools in the fall of 2026.
