Summer 2026
Rio Hondo Artists In Residence
Rio Hondo Artists’ Residency is an annual dance-based artistic residency program designed to forge connections: to the land, to our culture, and between people.
From June 22-July 3, 2026, our resident artists will dive deep into the research process with their collaborative artists to lay the foundation for 3 distinct choreographic works, offer free community workshops, engage with Taos artists through interactive rehearsals & conversation, and present a works-in-progress showcase.
Love Letters at Sunset - Writing Workshop
Love Letters at Sunset is a writing workshop inviting movement, play, and presence to use writing as a healing tool. This series will serve as an open invitation to the community to write, share, tell stories, and serve as research for her dance making process.
Interactive Rehearsals at the Harwood Museum
Interactive rehearsals are an open invitation for community members and artists to observe dancers in rehearsal. We invite you into the studio to watch dancers create new movement, and to respond to what you observe with your own art.
Earth Talk - Community Workshop
A Space for Land is a workshop offering a space where conversation and movement become a way of reflecting on our individual and communal relationships with the land.
Open Movement Offering - Community Workshop
This class is an open invitation to dance, move, sweat, learn and connect. No prior dance experience is required and all ages are welcome to participate.
Artists' Coffee & Conversation
RHAR is built on the belief that the best art is created through community and collaboration. As we navigate our first year, we want to lay the groundwork for 2027 and beyond, and that means finding out what artists need! We are seeking input from artists who are local to Taos, would like to work with dance, & value collaboration and community involvement as part of their creative process.
Interactive Rehearsals at the Wildflower Playhouse
Interactive rehearsals are an open invitation for community members and artists to observe dancers in rehearsal. We invite you into the studio to watch dancers create new movement, and to respond to what you observe with your own art.
First Edition
Join us for First Edition, a celebratory evening of dance, art, collaboration, and community at the Wildflower Playhouse!
First Edition is the culmination of the first annual Rio Hondo Artists' Residency and highlights the choreographic works-in-progress the artists have been researching for almost two weeks.
